zahid Posted September 16, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 16, 2015 Hi I have a few users whose ISP is BT in the UK.After they connect to VPN and then try logging in to Swyx, they get the screen where communication is shown being attempted between two PC's. And, a few minutes later, the actual Swyxit view appears ( with the speed dials, etc. ) and LOGGED OFF is shown at the bottom. You cannot click on any of the options in the middle and can only choose FILE > LOGON , which repeats the process. Are BT blocking SIP traffic, thereby causing Swyxit clients to not connect to our Swyx server ? The same users do not have any problems when they connect via our office WiFi or via another ISP's network. Thanks.
Tom Wellige Posted September 17, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2015 It seems that your VPN connection is not that transparent as it should be. Is it possible that those users have some software firewalls installed and configured on their machines at home (Windows Firewall, Anti Virus Software) that block certain ports? zahid Posted September 21, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted September 21, 2015 Hi Tom We use the regular Windows VPN, nothing fancy like Cisco VPN, etc.The Windows firewall is at the default settings and there are no other firewalls enabled. When going via the BT router, Swyx refuses to connect . But, if a user connects via BT Hotspot , Swyx works.I have also set port forwarding 5060 on the router itself but this has not helped. Robvha Posted September 21, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 21, 2015 Hello Zahid, Please don't forward port 5060. You create serious security risks by doing that. SwyxIt! uses a lot of different ports. Please check your BT router. See attached screenshot for port details. Best regards, Rob
zahid Posted September 29, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted September 29, 2015 Robvha, your suggestion worked brilliantly! I have done port forwarding on the user's BT router and Swyxit now works! She was connected to the router’s regular WiFi network and not Bt Wifi with Fon hotspot This is the fix :Login to router on 192.168.1.254 from a browserGo to Settings > Advanced settingsGo to Port forwarding > Supported applications > Click on Add new game or app Let’s call it SIP for example.Adjust the settings as below :PROTOCOL PORT RANGE TRANSLATE TOTCP 5070-5170 5070-5170UDP 5070-5170 5070-5170 Hit Apply and then disconnect and reconnect to VPN.Open Swyxit and then login. zahid Posted September 30, 2015 Author #6 Share Posted September 30, 2015 EDIT! BT , the ISP, seems to have blocked the ports! Now, I get the following on trying to conenct with Swyxit 2015 : User name - XServer name - XserverTry to log onUnregistered : xUnregistered : x503 server unavailable - No matching transport found - x503 server unavailable - No matching transport found - x800706ba The RPC server is unavailable
