    Dear Swyx Users

Did you know that you can leave a callback request if an internal extension is busy or is not picking up the phone?

Assumption: You are calling another internal user but the called party is on the phone or is available but does not pick up the call.

This is how you make a callback request: Click on the "Callback" button on your SwyxIt!.

A: If the called party is busy and you place a call back request an entry will be created with "Callback on busy" in the "My Callback Requests..." list.
Once the user becomes available you will get an call alert amp; a popup message saying "Callback on Busy", "Click here to accept the call!"

B: If you receive a callback request when you have been unable to answer the phone, the entry "Callback requested" will be created in your caller list.
Additionally the caller list icon will start flashing and the icon changed status.

Note: The "Callback" function is only available for calls from internal subscribers.

    Any questions?

Have a good weekend and happy Swyxing...

    Dear Swyx Users

SwyxWare records all conversations as wav files to your local hard-drive. Accessing these files is just two mouse click away ;- )

All recorded conversations are shown in the recorded conversations list. This list contains all recorded calls as well as additional information such as date and time of the call, the phone numbers involved, the extension used and it also signals whether it was an outgoing call (green arrow) or an incoming call (red arrow).

One can mark the desired conversation, click play or even send the conversation as an e-mail attachment.

You can call the conversation partner again "dial", assign a special ringing sound to his phone number "ringing" or add the number to your Personal Phonebook "To Phonebook".

SwyxWare native playback function does not offer a lot of options. One can stop and play, but features such as rewind the last x seconds are missing.

But if you playback the conversation recording with a media player, one can scroll through the sound file, or repeat an explicit section of the recording file easily.

If this is desired, one can directly open the directory where the wav files are saved to via a shortcut on the SwyxIt! soft phone.

Configure a shortcut button to open the specific folder. Default the client recordings are saved to: “C:\Documents and Settings\[USER]\Application Data\Swyx\Recording

You have now an explorer which lists all recordings. If such a conversation recording is opened with a media player one as all comfort function like volume adjustment, rewind or fast forward.

A very popular and open source player is "VLC media player".

Note: To record all client conversations SwyxWare Optionpack Record or Professional is needed.

Have a good weekend and happy Swyxing...

    Regards

    Dear Swyx Users

I’m sure many of you are familiar with SwyxWare’s Conference room facility. Meetings are an essential part of business. Planning and production meetings, sales meetings, client meetings, briefings of all kinds... they are all needed to get work done.

With more and more people working on the road or in geographically separate locations, this is an ideal way to keep everyone in today's 'virtual enterprise' working together.

If such conference calls are held in a meeting room, were multiple partys are connected together, a high quality conference phone will makes a big difference.

Here I’m providing you with a “configuration guide” on how to setup a snom MeetingPoint Conference unit to your Swyx Server.

    http://www.itnetworld.co.nz/products/snom/Swyx_MeetingPointConfig.pdf < click for download

The snom MeetingPoint is perfectly qualified for use in middle to large conference rooms. One can hold telephone conferences in large groups of up to 10 persons without affecting the intelligibility of the call.

Side note: The snom MeetingPoint is the only SIP conference phone that allows you to use Microsoft Office Communication Server 2007 R2 and Standard SIP accounts in one conference phone in parallel!

Have a good weekend and happy Swyxing...

    Dear Swyx Users

The ability to make a phone call by a click of a button on a PC enables you to work more effectively. But what if you do not want to let go of your a traditional looking telephone on your desk?

With SwyxWare CTI all incoming and outgoing phone calls can be handled by the SwyxIt! soft phone as well as with the Desk Phones. Allowing you to switch between these communications tools at any time so that you are always using the phone that suits you best.

Here a short demonstration on how powerful and simple to use the Swyx CTI solution is:

I hope you enjoyed my screen cast. As you could see, Swyx CTI is an intuitive solution and results in satisfied users and customers alike. Every call can be controlled on the device of choice increasing the operators productivity.

Note: Since SwyxWare is an software based IP PBX solution, there is no additional CTI server needed to enable this functionality. It is simply a software option on the core SwyxServer.

Have a good weekend and happy Swyxing...

    Dear Swyx Users

With Swyx Mobile Extension Manager, you can link your extension with your mobile phone.

An incoming call will simultaneously ring both your extension and the twinned mobile phone. But did you know that you can route your MEM calls based on time of the day or also day of the week?

Your "sales rep" never wants to miss a call to his extension; hence he uses SwyxMobile Extension and can benefit from many other key features like call recording, call transfer and conferencing.

But after hours and on weekends, he does not want to receive calls from his workplace.

This is simply to achieve via a small call routing script. Such a call routing could look like this:
    1. check day of week and time of day and route caller based on this to:
2.1 ... your desk phone including Mobile Extension
2.2 ... only your office based desk phone

Note: In the "Connect To" block, select or de-select field "Include SwyxIt! Mobile devices". Only if activated the connected call will be signaled also on your SwyxIt! Mobile device.

Editors Note August 2020: Please note that this article refers to the old SwyxWare mobile integration with with old "SwyxIt! Mobile" clients and the "Mobile Extension Manager" on the server side. From SwyxWare 2015 on the "Swyx Mobile" clients are basically SIP devices which login as a parallel device to your user account and can not be treated differently within the call routing anymore.

Have a good weekend and happy Swyxing...

    Dear Swyx Users

Did you know that the SwyxIt! soft-phone allows you to set a "wrap up timer"?

If you are asking yourself now what exactly is a "wrap-up timer", here the answer:

The "wrap up timer" prevents further calls from coming through, therefore letting the you complete additional tasks related to the previous call without being disturbed.

This is how you configure the "wrap up timer" per line key:

    1. Click with the right mouse button on the selected Line button and select "Properties"

    2. The "Properties of..." window will appear, now activate the option "Disable line after call" and define a time period (5 – 1800 seconds)

    3. Confirm your input by clicking on "OK".

All done. The line will now be disabled after every call for the time period defined. And your SwyxIt! line key is then busy for further incoming calls. After the "wrap up time-out" is reached your Line key goes to "ready" status immediately.

Have a good weekend and happy Swyxing...

    Regards
    Mirjam
